Ron Finlay

Ron is former chief executive of top ten UK PR agency, Fishburn Hedges.

His original training was in market research and the City and he later dabbled as a financial journalist. He joined PR consultancy, Valin Pollen, in 1983, becoming a director in 1986. At Fishburn Hedges from 1991 he advised a wide range of clients in the private, public and voluntary sectors, focusing on financial, business and professional services, health, transport, the environment and the media. He led the firm from 2003–2006, during which period income rose by several million pounds and the firm won the Outstanding Consultancy of the Year award from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.

He has an MA in Economics from Cambridge; is a Trustee of development charity Women & Children First; a Member of the Public Liaison Committee, British Thoracic Society; a Member of the Vice-Chancellor’s Communications Advisory Board, Cambridge University; and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
